CurrentOur next Lambivac Vaccine Hub dates should correspond with most clients' 6-monthly herd booster, in April and October.
We will be opening a Lambivac bottle on Friday 19th April. The bottles will be opened at 9am and will be required to be kept refrigerated and administered by 5pm on the same day.
If there is a requirement for it (for part one of a primary course for previously unvaccinated goats, or females in late pregnancy), we will open a further bottle PRIOR to this on Friday 22nd March.
Please contact the practice by phone or email if you would like to reserve any doses, providing the following information:
- Surname and farm name (as registered)
- Number of doses required for 19th April
- Number of doses (if any) required for 22nd March
If you do not receive acknowledgement of your order within 24 hours (Monday – Friday) then please contact the Farm Office by phone to confirm receipt of the order.
Vaccine will be charged per dose, plus our Vaccine Hub dispensing fee per order.
Vaccination is recommended every 6 months. Ideally a booster dose should also be given to pregnant goats 4-6 weeks prior to kidding to boost colostral immunity.
Previously unvaccinated goats, or those which are overdue their booster, should receive a primary course (two doses, 4-6 weeks apart).
There are no licensed clostridial vaccines for goats, but the vaccine of choice (as advised by the Goat Veterinary Society) is Lambivac. Please note that this vaccine does not have a marketing authorisation for use in goats, but is widely used in this species and appears to be both effective and safe.
Clostridial diseases are caused by bacteria present in soil and tend to cause sudden death, so vaccination is strongly advised. Lambivac protects against tetanus, pulpy kidney, struck and most importantly enterotoxaemia.
