Canine Hydrotherapy

Pengelly Canine Hydrotherapy is a dedicated hydrotherapy service for dogs, and runs from our Callington premises, which have an onsite hydrotherapy pool.

The service is led by Hannah, a Registered Veterinary Nurse and registered member of the Canine Hydrotherapy Association.

If you think your dog could benefit from a hydrotherapy session, please contact Hannah on 07815 790788 or 01579 383231. You can also find out more on our Facebook page.

The benefits of hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a complementary treatment that provides non-weight-bearing, full range-of-motion exercise.
It has many benefits and uses, including:

Rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery.
Reducing stiffness, e.g. in dogs with arthritis.
Strengthening muscles, in order to reduce discomfort, e.g. due to hip dysplasia.
Supporting weight loss.

Swimming in a controlled environment can improve muscle tone and definition, and some of our clients who show their pets find hydrotherapy helps their dogs reach peak condition.

The service is suitable for most patients, even those with complicated health problems, such as epilepsy, heart murmurs and other medical conditions. There will be a veterinary surgeon onsite at all times, should any support be needed.

We also have shower facilities with non-slip flooring for dogs who are wary of getting into the bath.
