Artificial insemination courses

We offer DEFRA-approved artificial insemination courses, which are suitable for all cattle farmers and designed to save you time and money, whilst maximising your results.

We can help you arrange your own cows’ insemination at the right stage, without the cost or stress of waiting for a technician.

We offer both full and refresher courses. Full courses are delivered over three days, to give you maximum hands-on tuition.

Refresher courses are single day courses, and are aimed at maintaining skills and updating knowledge.

Foot trimming and lameness courses

Our foot trimming courses are tailored to those who want to learn about lameness in their cattle, as well as farmers who want to refresh their knowledge on foot trimming.

Areas covered include:

Assessing mobility and identifying lameness.

Anatomy and function of the foot, as it relates to trimming and lameness.

Dutch five-stage foot trimming.

Lameness prevention.

Block application.

Safe and responsible use of medicines course

We regularly run safe and responsible use of medicines courses to discuss both reducing antibiotics and adopting alternative strategies to reduce the reliance on them.

This course forms part of the requirements for the Red Tractor Farm Assurance scheme.

The course covers:

Safely administering veterinary medicines to animals.

The difference between vaccines and treatments and the different legislative classes.

Basic differences between the different classes of antibiotic, and the need for veterinary guidance for their use.

The basic classes of anthelmintics and the need for veterinary or SQP guidance on their use.

Understanding the actions of an NSAID and when they should be used.

Storing and maintaining medicines on farm, in accordance with legislation and farm assurance requirements.
