Ram Fertility

Our sheep-enthusiast vet Miranda will be presenting at AHDB and RamCompare's event at Dupath Farm, Callington:
"Fertility of breeding stock and understanding how EBVs aid ram selection decisions – RamCompare with a Strategic Farm Focus"
This will be an afternoon/early evening event: full details are yet be finalised; keep an eye out for updates!
Event objectives include:
- Gain an understanding of EBVs for ram selection decisions, using data/results from Dupath Farm and the RamCompare project
- Ram fertility and quarantine – the importance of conducting annual ram MOTs to prepare for a successful breeding season whilst protecting flock biosecurity with new purchases
- Ewe flock fertility – getting two-tooth ewes back into shape post-lambing
- Efficient ewes = efficient system – a focus on ewe weight and body condition to inform future flock management decisions

Foot Trimming Course

We are running our first foot trimming course of the year!
These courses are tailored to those who want to learn about lameness in their cattle and also to the farmers who want refresh their knowledge on foot trimming.
Areas to be covered are:
- Assessing Mobility and identifying lameness
- Anatomy and function of the foot as it relates to trimming and lameness
- Dutch 5 stage foot trimming
- Lameness prevention
- Block Application
Location : Mid Cornwall
10:00am start
Price : £195 + VAT
Lunch and refreshments included.
Along with Spike-one of our Vets, the course is ran by NJB Hoofcare which owned and operated by Neil Barrett, the chairman of the national association of cattle foot trimmers, He is a Category one trimming, completing the Dutch diploma,whiteline method. He typically covers Somerset, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire and surrounding counties.
