Ram Breeding Soundness Evaluations

Friday, October 5, 2018 - 13:30

Will you be using single sire mating groups?

Is your ram : ewe ratio higher than 1:50?

  • A ram serving 40 ewes with a 2 year lifespan costs you £4.58 per lamb

  • A ram serving 80 ewes lasting 4 seasons costs you just £1.15 per lamb

Based on ram cost £550 and rearing at 150%

Or would you just like to reduce the risk of using an infertile ram and having some unwelcome surprises at scanning time?

Then take advantage of our RAM BREEDING SOUNDNESS EVALUATIONS.

Our pre-breeding evaluations comprise a full physical examination, and semen collection and evaluation.

Sessions will take place at our Merrymeet branch this Autumn.

£35 per ram for a half hour appointment.

Friday 5th October (afternoon only)

Wednesday 10th October (all day)

Mastering Medicines Certification

Thursday, August 23, 2018 - 18:30

New Red Tractor guidelines recommend that a member / members of farm staff attend a training course in the handling and administration of medicines.

We do not want to teach you to suck eggs, but hope to provide a better understanding of medicines and their use in the changing climate.

With this in mind we are running a number of courses, to be held at Duchy College, as follows:

Tuesday 14th August:  12.30pm - 3pm or 6.30pm - 9pm

Thursday 23rd August: 12.30pm - 3pm or 6.30pm - 9pm

Pasty included at all meetings!

Attending one of these events will enable attendees to become certified as competent at administering medicines to livestock.

Please note that there is a £40pp charge to attend, with subsequent attendees from the same farm charged at £30pp.
